Hi Imagine fellows, coaches, volunteers & friends,
Great news coming your way! πΒ Germany's latest legal implementation - the Opportunity Card or "Chancenkarte" is all set to roll out in the first half of 2024. This is a big step forward in Germany's plan to tackle the labor shortage in several key sectors.
So, what's the Opportunity Card? π§
It's an exciting offer for folks from non-European countries to come to Germany for job searching, getting foreign qualifications recognized, or for vocational training. The whole system works on a point-based structure. You have to score at least 6 points to be eligible. Once you get the Opportunity Card, it's valid for one year, but don't worry, it could be extended up to two years. π³
Now, you must be wondering about eligibility. That depends on several things - if you've got a degree that's recognized in Germany, that's a big plus. Work experience, and knowledge of German or English can give you more points. And the best part? You don't necessarily need to know German, as long as you score enough points in other areas. π©πͺ
We've made a handy questionnaire to make it easy for you to see if you qualify for the Opportunity Card. It's a quick and simple way to check your eligibility based on your answers. **You can find it here. β **
And there's more! We're gearing up to host a webinar soon to dive deeper into the Opportunity Card. We'll give you all the details and answer any questions you might have. Stay tuned for more updates on that on our LinkedIn page! π
Hubertus Heil, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, said, "With the Skilled Worker Immigration Act, we are laying the foundation for a modern immigration country that not only accepts skilled immigration but also wants it." πͺ
That's all for now. Let us know if you have any questions! π
Best,
Team Imagine
